Prototyping of Multimodal Interactions for Smart Environments Based on Task Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
Smart environments offer interconnected sensors, devices, and appliances that can be considered for interaction to substantially extend the potentially available modality mix. This promises a more natural and situation aware human computer interaction. Technical challenges and differences in interaction principles for distinct modalities restrict multimodal systems to specialized systems that support specific situations only. To overcome these limitations enabling an easier integration of new modalities to enhance interaction in smart environments, we propose a task-based notation that can be interpreted at runtime. The notation supports evolutionary prototyping of new interaction styles for already existing interactive systems. We eliminate the gap between designand runtime, since support for additional modalities can be prototyped at runtime to an already existing interactive system.

MIBO - A Framework for the Integration of Multimodal Intuitive Controls in Smart Buildings
With the Internet of Things expanding into our homes and offices, we can expect fixtures in buildings to become more interconnected and more numerous as part of an increasingly complex and powerful integrated smart environment. However, this raises new challenges in the area of usability since today’s rooms are already cluttered with multiple user interfaces in the form of buttons and remote co...
متن کاملPrototyping a Vibrato-Aware Query-By-Humming (QBH) Music Information Retrieval System for Mobile Communication Devices: Case of Chromatic Harmonica
Background and Aim: The current research aims at prototyping query-by-humming music information retrieval systems for smart phones. Methods: This multi-method research follows simulation technique from mixed models of the operations research methodology, and the documentary research method, simultaneously. Two chromatic harmonica albums comprised the research population. To achieve the purpose ...
متن کاملAn approach integrating two complementary model-based environments for the construction of multimodal interactive applications
This paper presents a tool suite for the engineering of multimodal Post-WIMP Interactive Systems. The work presented here extends previous work done on design, prototyping, specification and verification of interactive systems and integrates two previously unrelated approaches. The first element of this integration is ICOM (a dataflow model dedicated to low-level input modelling) and its enviro...
متن کاملTask Model-Based Usability Evaluation for Smart Environments
Task models are widely used within the research field of HCI for the model-based development of interactive systems. Recently introduced approaches applied task models further to model the cooperative behavior of people using devices within a smart environment. We describe a method of model-based usability evaluation to evaluate interactive systems, with a particular focus on smart environments...
متن کاملNew methods and solutions based on Contactless smart-card (CSC) for Customer servicing and CRM development in a muti- modal / inter-modal transport environment
This paper deals with customer identification and access control to personnalized services in the context of multimodal transport services and in-car telematics services. We present a vision or concept of the e-Pass, a universal portable secure object for transport. We illustrate it with the CarSharing service and its use scenarios and discuss the suitability of mobile technologies, contactless...
